On the Road to Becoming a Debt-Free Church
Together, We Will Make History.
For 104 years, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and service in our community. Through generations of worship, prayer, and sacrifice, God has remained faithful.
Today, we stand at another historic moment.
We are on the road to becoming a completely debt-free church.
Our Goal
$63,500
Deadline: September 7, 2026
Every gift brings us one step closer to eliminating the final debt on our church campus.
The Final Chapter
Our Jakway Campus represents more than a building—it is part of our church's legacy.
This property was the last property purchased by our beloved late pastor, Rev. Emery M. Varrie, whose vision and leadership helped shape the future of Pilgrim Rest. Paying off this property is about more than retiring a loan; it is about honoring a legacy of faith while preparing the next generation for greater ministry.
When this balance is paid in full, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will officially be debt free.
No mortgage.
No church debt.
Only greater opportunities for ministry.
Why It Matters
Imagine what God can do when every dollar once dedicated to debt can instead be invested in:
Expanding outreach throughout Benton Harbor
Investing in children and youth ministries
Supporting missions and evangelism
Improving our facilities
Serving families in need
Building for future generations
A debt-free church is a church positioned to do even greater ministry. Churches that eliminate debt often gain greater flexibility to expand outreach and invest more directly in their mission.
